Shalom! My name is Adina.
My family and I immigrated to Israel from Ethiopia after waiting for many years to come to the Holy Land. Every day, we prayed that God would let us return to the home of our ancestors. While waiting for this miracle to happen, we lived in a refugee camp in tents with no running water or electricity.
When we finally arrived in Israel, it was exciting—but also very difficult, especially for my parents. They struggled with the language, feelings of isolation, and fear. Finding work was nearly impossible, and food was often scarce. The stress caused major anxiety and tension at home, and eventually, it became violent.
That’s when the social services and welfare department stepped in to help. My siblings and I were placed in an EMUNAH Children’s Residential Home, where we finally found warmth, love, and stability. There, we received educational assistance, healthcare, and extensive counseling that helped us heal and integrate into Israeli society.
Today, I am proud to share that I will soon be entering college after serving in the army. I will be the first person in my family to graduate from high school and attend college!
Thank you, EMUNAH – and to the EMUNAH Family of supporters who made this all possible! It truly feels like a miracle that I am here in Israel—where dreams really do come true!
